about

It's been seven years since beginning the Wiklow project and a small collection of the very first pieces created under the pseudonym were hidden away on old hard drive. "A Map of Where to Wander" documents the first moments of the project, merging new experimental interests with influences from previous collaborations in jazz, post-rock and glitch.

In 2013, Dean relocated from Ireland to Québec, Canada, and was fresh with inspirations taken from the European music scene. The project was meant to merge both instrumental and electronic styles, using delicate melodies with glitches and beeps. Inspired by his departure, Wiklow is the re-spelling of Wicklow, a county located on the Eastern Irish coast, signifying the impact on Dean while living in Ireland.

Landing in Québec, Dean spent several months in the dense winter in both Montréal as well as in a northern region of boreal forest known as Saguenay. This was a period of new beginnings, starting again the loop of self-discovery, new inspirations and the genesis of a new artistic project.
